In the beginning I learned the cello. Then they trained me as a comic artist in Brussels.
Next they trained me as a stage designer in Munich. In 1998 I started working as an illustrator
and as a production designer. And the very next year
I realized my dream to put Pink Floyd's THE WALL on the stage.
I wrote the play, did the stage design, produced the whole thing and even directed it.
Maybe you won't believe this, but it worked (I was surrounded by super-talented artists and a passionate crew backstage!).
It ended up a thrilling show. Anyway, now some people thought I was some kind of director. I was getting paid!
So, amongst other things, I developed a Dracula-rock opera for ARTCONCERTS
and wrote and directed BEFREIUNG AUS DEM PARADIES, an avant garde opera for the
WORLD EXHIBITION 2000.
And I'd always wanted to make movies. In 2003 I wrote and directed my first film - ISIS AND OSIRIS.
Thanks to sponsorship from the Bavarian Filmförderung. To smooth the path to a life making films, I enrolled on a masters
in Film Directing at the Hamburg Media School. I finished my studies with the short
ANKER WERFEN (CAST ANCHOR) – festivals release at the Max Ophüls Festival in Saarbrücken,
Germany from the 26th of January, '09.
One more thing: This is just my BECKground. So try checking out my work regularly – I'm always adding new things.
Please call me or drop me a line on the contact form - I look forward to hearing from you.
